Removing Barriers to EV Charging with Tap&Go EV’s Skybolt System

Accessibility is often overlooked in EV charging. A survey by Zap-Map and the Motability Foundation found that one in three disabled drivers had difficulty finding a suitable charger, and one in seven reported problems with the weight of charging cables. Other challenges included limited space around charging bays, steep kerbs, and layouts that made safe use difficult.

Tap&Go EV’s Skybolt Autorewind System is designed to address these barriers. When charging is complete, the cable retracts automatically into the charger casing. This removes the need to lift or drag a heavy cable and keeps pathways clear for wheelchairs, mobility aids, and pedestrians.

By connecting directly to overhead power distribution, Skybolt eliminates the need for ground-level cabling and keeps equipment out of reach from vandalism or accidental damage. The result is a cleaner, safer, and more inclusive charging environment that works for people of all abilities.
